Nurture a sense of empathy in your child

Empathy Education is a project that aims to promote the idea of unity of all creatures by pointing out our similarities, to help build empathy and describe how truly unique the farm animals we abuse really are, and how we ought to respect them, even if we’re different.

In order to raise sensitive, clever, attentive and responsible children, we need education without speciesist narratives. As Bob Talbert so wisely put it: “Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.”

Animals are our friends - not food

This vegan activity book for children aims to promote a plant-based lifestyle.

Learning through play activities is fun and more effective! 52 pages of simple, creative tasks, plus pictures to colour in. They pass on basic information, while gently touching on more difficult subjects to raise awareness. Kids can learn how to be mindful and responsible for their own decisions, which will ultimately improve the conditions for life on our entire planet and benefit its inhabitants of every species.

The idea for „Empathy Education” came from my own need to give a close child of mine a book free from harmful narratives about animals…

…such as: „The cow goes moo and gives milk” or „The hen goes cluck and gives eggs.” Animals are allegedly giving us everything that’s most precious in their lives – their children, their bodies, their lives – with joy! This pervasive message in children’s books objectifies animals and literally serves the idea that they exist for us – to be eaten and for our entertainment.

The awful truth, which is how animals are treated and killed, is a taboo topic. When children grow up and start connecting the dots themselves, they’re told that „meat” isn’t really the pig from Peppa Pig, but some other pig… and the topic is swept under the rug. All of this builds a false image of animals as beings who don’t feel, whose lives are worth as much as a pork chop, and who are here to serve us in every possible way.

Then there is speciesism – we need to care for kittens and puppies, but other animals can be killed and exploited. This message is pure hypocrisy. Contradictory messages destroy children’s innate empathy and instill harmful beliefs that animals are inferior to us. Meanwhile, children instinctively know where the truth lies. If we provide them with the right tools and support, they will protect their sensitivity and even develop it further, growing into empathetic, caring individuals towards all beings. As Frederick Douglass wisely said: „It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

I believe the greatest potential for change lies in educating children, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle and habits that support a holistic approach to peaceful coexistence of all beings. In my activity books and coloring books, I focus on what connects us: animals also have emotions, they feel, and just like us humans, they simply want to live and have an equal right to do so. They are different from us, but not inferior. We are all animals!

I hope that the materials I publish here will help animals, people, and our planet overcome the moral, health, and environmental crises
we are witnessing today.

Let’s change the world together!
